Alex Zerden is a trusted advisor helping organizations, ranging from early- and growth-stage FinTech, digital asset, and emerging technology companies to large corporations and non-profits, navigate complex regulatory, public policy, and other issues.

Key Accomplishments

• Alex has worked in the public and private sectors as a regulatory and investigative lawyer, economic policymaker, and financial diplomat
• Alex co-authored the Obama-Biden Administration's FinTech strategy while at the White House National Economic Council
• Alex designed and launched FinCEN Exchange, the public-private information sharing partnership between financial regulators, law enforcement, and financial institutions
• Alex led the Treasury Department's office at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan from 2018-2019 as the Financial Attaché  
• Alex represented the U.S. government at the intergovernmental Financial Action Task Force (FATF) FinTech/RegTech Forum
• Alex is widely quoted and interviewed in major international business press and television outlets such as Al Jazeera, Bloomberg, the BBC, CNBC, CoinDesk, the New York Times, Public Radio International's The World, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post
• Alex has authored publications through the American Banker, the Atlantic Council, Brookings Institution/Lawfare Institute, New York University's Center on Law and Security, and the Center for American Progress
• Alex is an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) through their Energy, Economics, and Security (EES) Program, Senior Advisor to geopolitical risk firm WestExec Advisors, and a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)

Alex founded Capitol Peak Strategies while living in Colorado during the pandemic after serving in various roles across federal and state government. Capitol Peak is a prominent summit towering over fourteen thousand feet in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado. Capitol refers to where a legislative body meets to perform the functions of government.  Capitol Peak Strategies brings expertise from government and the private sector to help organizations achieve their goals.
